Biography
I’m an Associate Professor of Surgery and the Division Head of Abdominal Organ Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at 博彩网站. Since joining 博彩网站 in 2015, I’ve been dedicated to advancing the field of organ transplantation, including:
- Transplant for organs in the abdomen
- Liver cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Bile duct cancer and other bile duct conditions
My goal is to provide the highest level of care to patients facing these serious conditions. I’m deeply committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and constantly working to improve transplant surgery to give my patients the best possible outcomes.
As part of my leadership role, I’ve helped transform 博彩网站’s transplant program by increasing the number of liver transplants from 60 to over 100 each year while maintaining the highest standards of care. I’ve also worked to expand the use of donor organs and introduce innovative techniques like normothermic perfusion, which helps improve patient outcomes and advance the field.
In addition to caring for patients, I’m passionate about teaching and research. I’ve written several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on transplantation techniques, liver and pancreas cancers, and surgical education. I’m also recognized nationally for my work in training future surgeons and have had the opportunity to speak at international, national, and local conferences on topics such as liver transplantation, managing surgical complications, and achieving work-life balance in surgery. I’m proud to have received several teaching awards, including 博彩网站’s Marquam Hill Teaching Award and the Surgical Resident Chiefs’ Choice Award, which reflect my commitment to mentoring the next generation of surgeons.
Beyond my work at 博彩网站, I’ve taken on national leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the Knowledge Assessment Committee for the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and leading efforts to develop certification programs in hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery.
When I’m not in the operating room or mentoring future surgeons, I love spending time outdoors.
