Biography

I’m a family physician who cares for whole families, including children and pregnant people. You’ll find me both in the clinic and the hospital—whether I’m delivering babies or caring for people admitted with acute illnesses.

I believe in building long-term, trusting relationships with my patients and understanding how life experiences, like access to housing, food, purpose and support, impact overall health. I also recognize the effects of trauma, discrimination and inequity on well-being, and I strive to provide compassionate, whole-person care.

I have special training and interests in substance use disorder treatment (including during pregnancy), mental health care, hormone therapy, hepatitis C treatment, palliative care, and medical aid in dying (Death with Dignity). I also use musculoskeletal and point-of-care ultrasound to enhance patient care. Teaching is another passion of mine—I love working with medical students and residents, as they bring fresh perspectives and energy to the field.

I feel incredibly honored to be invited into my patients’ lives, hear their stories, and care for them and their families. Family medicine allows me to meet the diverse needs of my community, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve Portland and my fellow Oregonians.

I was born and raised in Portland, and when I’m not at work, I love spending time with my wife and two sons. You’ll often find me staying active, traveling, cooking, working on house projects, reading fiction and enjoying time with family and friends.

Why I love obstetrics:
Providing prenatal and postpartum care is one of the greatest joys of my job. I love partnering with pregnant patients through the highs and lows of pregnancy, offering support every step of the way. Being present for a baby's birth is an incredible experience, and I’m honored to help families achieve their delivery goals and welcome their little ones into the world!
