Biography

I am an occupational therapist who treats adult patients who have experienced strokes, concussions, traumatic brain injuriesmultiple sclerosis, essential tremors, Parkinson's disease, cancer, long-term COVID-19 and various other neurological conditions.

My services focus on neurorehabilitation to improve the following:

  • Vision changes
    • Double vision
    • Blurred vision (or overlapping images)
    • Eye strain
    • Light sensitivity
    • Sensitivity to visual motion (i.e. when driving, scrolling on a screen, difficulty with grocery shopping)
    • Difficulty with reading
    • Feeling less confident with navigating stairs
    • Bumping in to the sides of things more (or missing when you reach for something)
    • Visual perception (understanding visual information and being able to mentally manipulate)
  • Motor Coordination
    • Improving motor control of an arm affected by stroke, essential tremor, Parkinson's, brain injury, and multiple sclerosis:
      • Range of motion
      • Strengthening
      • Fine motor skills (tying shoes, zipping clothing, handwriting)
      • Gross motor (unloading the dishwasher, hanging up clothing, etc.)
    • Addressing shoulder pain
    • Reducing spasticity (tightness)
    • Improving sensory (which improves coordination)
    • Increasing the understanding of where your arm is in space (proprioception)
    • Maximizing function
  • Fatigue
    • It is very common to experience this with illness or injury. There are strategies to help you do more and feel less fatigued by using pacing and energy management. Fatigue may be the biggest barrier keeping you from engaging in activities you enjoy.
  • Functional independence
    • With illness or injury, people often loose pieces of their independence too. It is my job to help you regain independence with activities that matter most to you. This could be anything from simple day-to-day activities (dressing, bathing, cooking, grocery shopping) to higher level skills such as managing medications, paying bills, driving, navigating transportation (Trimet or Trimet LIFT), volunteering, recreation, reading, and so much more.

My approach to patient care is centered around the individual. I enjoy getting to know each person, understanding what matters to them and finding ways to help them return to the activities they value most. My job is rewarding because each person is unique, allowing me to use my creativity to develop tailored solutions for their needs.

I have a strong passion for working with individuals who live with neurological conditions, and I am grateful to be at 博彩网站, where I have excellent access to research and the opportunity to collaborate with a skilled team to help patients improve their functional abilities.

Outside of my work at 博彩网站, I enjoy hiking, backpacking, camping, social dancing and playing pickleball or racquetball.
