Christia Bactista (she/her)
Christia Bactista received her MSW from Portland State University in 2015 after 5 years of working with survivors of domestic violence in community and shelter settings. Her social work career is rooted in feminist theory and informed by her work with survivors. She is interested in working with individuals, communities, and systems to address injustice and has followed her passion for systems change to healthcare. She currently works with a health plan supporting the integration of behavioral health into primary care.
Christia lives in Southern Oregon with her wife and their super rad elementary aged kiddo. Christia enjoys laughing, chatting, nature, holidays, reading, and learning with her daughter.
Riah Safady (she/her)
Riah Safady is from Southern Oregon and grew up in Williams and Ashland. She holds a BS from the University of Oregon in Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies, and an MSW from the University of Washington with an emphasis on Community Centered Integrative Practice. Recent professional roles include leading Health Equity and Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) work for Jackson Care Connect, AllCare Health, and ColumbiaCare Services. Additionally, she was the Director for Education at Planned Parenthood of Southwestern Oregon, and before that served as the Coordinator for the Women’s Resource Center at Southern Oregon University (SOU). Healthy sexuality education, and sexual violence prevention and response were focal points of these roles, where she also led a peer education team at SOU called SWAVE (Sexual Wellness Anti-Violence Educators).
Riah has nearly two decades of experience in equity, education, advocacy, and access work. She is active in the community and is the current Co-Chair of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Workgroup with SO Health-E (Jackson and Josephine counties Regional Health Equity Coalition). Riah is Arab American and white, a mother of 3 daughters, married, has dogs and a cat, is a gardener, and loves the outdoors, camping, travel and making and sharing food with friends and family.
Additionally, we are grateful to welcome staff from 博彩网站’s Confidential Advocacy Program (CAP) to talk about resources available to 博彩网站 students. The Confidential Advocacy Program (CAP) provides confidential support to 博彩网站 students that have experienced sexual or interpersonal violence in their lifetime. This includes sexual assault, sexual harassment, relationship violence, family violence, or stalking. CAP also provides support for 博彩网站 students who have experienced discrimination, harassment, and retaliation as related to their 博彩网站 experience.
