Governance
The Office of the CRIO has prioritized a collaborative approach to unifying research informatics at 博彩网站. Governance groups work closely with a variety of research enterprise informatics stakeholders across the institution, including regulatory and compliance, Research Data Warehouse, centers of innovation, EPIC for Research, training and fellowship programs, university shared resources, academic departments and centers, leadership councils, research asset management, research computing, and technology transfer.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee informs the 博彩网站 Research Informatics strategic vision.
Goals include providing guidance for, prioritizing, and endorsing informatics initiatives.

Informatics Governance Group
The purpose of the Information Governance Group is to: 1) provide leadership, communication and collaboration across the various 博彩网站 units that apply informatics, analytics and information technology to improve knowledge discovery and human health; and 2) ensure that scarce resources are optimally allocated to projects aligned with 博彩网站's strategic vision. The IGG is under the direction of 博彩网站 executive leadership and in collaboration with a wider stakeholder advisory board.
The Informatics Governance Group serves the following functions:
- Strategic vision: Creates and maintains a strategic vision for advanced informatics
- Harmonization: Identifies and pursues synergies across units that comprise the IGG, aiming to provide value to the institution through collaboration across operational and academic activities
- Project/program approval and prioritization: Reviews projects and recommends prioritization of 博彩网站 advanced informatics data science initiatives and programs to ensure alignment with strategic vision and optimize allocation of scarce resources
- Project oversight: Monitors progress of projects that are being executed; ensures required resources are available and assist with management of issues and risks
- Communication: Solicits feedback from relevant communities across 博彩网站 and communicates how these are integrated into the vision, prioritization and implementation of initiatives
The IGG is comprised of senior leaders in informatics from across the 博彩网站 enterprise and is chaired by the CRIO:

Research Data Governance Committee
The Research Data Governance Committee is a subcommittee of the Data Governance Steering Committee, which is chaired by 博彩网站 Chief Information Officer. The RDGC is chaired by the CRIO and reports to the parent committee.
Key goals of the Research Data Governance Committee include:
- Develop a unified approach to implementing the various strategies and tactics from 博彩网站's strategic plan
- Assess overall demand and use for data and work on strategically meeting that demand
- Set policies for research data best practices including data storage, coding, sharing and analysis
- Assess and prioritize key data elements and data types related to research and facilitate standardization where elements are high priority
- Recommend data quality management, curation and harmonization approaches
- Facilitate good research data management including standardized mapping, integration, provenance, preservation, maintenance, storage and access
- Address internal and external access, storage and retrieval through policy and governance, working with the ITG Information Privacy and Security Committee to maintain security, privacy and confidentiality
- Communicate best practices and requirements around data coding, standards, use and policies

Artificial Intelligence Governance Committee
To apply governance around Artificial Intelligence, 博彩网站 has formed an AI Governance Committee. The purpose of the committee is to provide guidance and oversight for requests to use or implement AI tools at 博彩网站. The committee is a cross-functional team with representatives from each 博彩网站 mission. While 博彩网站 does have enterprise-wide AI tools that have been approved, most tools are approved on a case-by-case basis by the AI Governance Committee. The governance structure will ensure that in-scope AI initiatives align with 博彩网站 strategic goals, meet ethical and privacy standards, and are transparent and accountable to stakeholders in research, administration, innovation, education, and health care.

Health Information Exchange Governance Group
This group helps guide the use Health Information Exchange (HIE) at Oregon Health & Science University (博彩网站).
Goals are to support research, innovation and quality improvement via the use of HIE. This includes vetting, setting guidelines for and approving the use of HIE applications.
