Forensic Psychiatry Clinical Rotations

Rotation schedule overview

The fellowship year is divided into two 6-month blocks. One block is spent at the Oregon State Hospital (OSH) and one block is spent at multiple sites. In addition, didactics are held every Friday afternoon at 博彩网站.

The Oregon State Hospital (OSH) is located in Salem, Oregon. On this block, fellows spend four days per week doing a variety of forensic evaluations, including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility and Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB) evaluations. OSH was recently awarded the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital, Behavioral Health Care and Laboratory Services, and recently became the first inpatient program to earn national certification for its Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program from the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification.

The Multi-Site Block is composed of various sites in Portland and Hillsboro. Currently, this includes time at:

  • Coffee Creek Correctional Facility
  • Washington County Jail
  • Mental Health Treatment Court
  • Private Practice with
  • Telepsychiatry
    • Fellows provide care for prisoners for the Oregon Department of Corrections (Prisons)

Seminars

Seminars happen every Friday afternoon for the academic year. We have five different seminar series that fellows will attend:

  • Criminal Forensics
  • Civil Forensics
  • Introduction to Law
  • Special Issues
  • Landmark Cases

In addition to the fellows and lecturers, we often have additional participants join in seminars such as post-doctoral forensic psychology learners, psychiatry residents, and medical students. 

AAPL Conference & Review Course

Every year, our faculty and fellows attend the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL) conference. Additionally, the fellows attend the AAPL Review Course. Funding is provided for the fellows to attend these events.
