Earn your B.S. in nursing, then move directly into a master's in nursing education (M.N.E.) or a master’s in health systems and organizational leadership (HSOL)

You: An RN with an associate degree interested in becoming a nurse educator or a nurse leader 

Prerequisites: An associate degree in nursing and an RN license in your state 

Length: 9 months to complete the B.S., then 19 months for the M.N.E. or 18 months for the HSOL master’s 

Location: Online coursework with some in-person requirements for the M.N.E. and HSOL programs.

Accelerated B.S. to D.N.P. (FNP, Nurse-Midwifery, PNP or PMHNP)

Earn your B.S. in nursing, then complete a Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) for a career as a family nurse practitioner, nurse-midwife, pediatric nurse practitioner or psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner

You: Have a bachelor’s degree in another field and want to become an advanced practice nurse.

Prerequisites: A bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field and prerequisite courses 

Length: 15 months to complete the B.S., then 3 years for the D.N.P. 

Location: Portland. FNP and PMHNP offer a distance learning option in Ashland.

Accelerated B.S. to Ph.D.

Earn your B.S. in nursing, then complete your Ph.D

You: Have a bachelor’s degree in another field and want to pursue a career in academic research and education.  

Prerequisites: A bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field, prerequisite courses and a faculty mentor with aligned research interests 

Length: 15 months to complete the B.S., then 4 to 6 years for the Ph.D. 

Location: Portland

Requirements for online RN to B.S. to Master’s in Nursing programs

To apply, you need:   

  • An associate degree (A.D.N. or A.S.N.) from an accredited community college  
  • Current RN license from any U.S. state or plans to have one within one term of starting your program 
  • GPA of 3.0 across all undergraduate and graduate courses 

Before you start your program, you must complete all prerequisite courses and earn a C- or higher in each. You must complete the statistics prerequisite with a B- or higher within five years of starting. If your course was completed earlier, you can submit a time limit waiver form

Follow these steps to apply: 

  • Review application deadlines
  • Visit Nursing CAS to apply. Choose the dual admission RN to B.S. to Master’s in Nursing Education or Health Systems and Organizational Leadership.
  • Enter your college coursework in Nursing CAS.
  • Submit 3 letters of reference, your resume and essays in Nursing CAS.
  • Send transcripts to Nursing CAS. Contact Nursing CAS to ensure your transcripts arrive.

Requirements for Accelerated B.S. to Ph.D. and D.N.P. programs

To apply, you need:  

  • A B.S. in any non-nursing major or be on track to complete your degree by the time your program starts 
  • A GPA of 3.0 across all undergraduate and graduate courses, including all science courses 
  • One anatomy and physiology course (with lab)

Before you start your program, you must complete all prerequisite courses and earn a B- or higher in each. You must complete the statistics prerequisite within five years of starting. If your course was completed earlier, you can submit a time limit waiver form
