About me

Dr. Stowers specializes in helping patients live well while living with a serious illness.

As part of the 博彩网站 palliative care team, Dr. Stowers provides an extra layer of support for patients and their families experiencing the stresses serious illness. This often includes relief from physical and emotional symptoms like pain and anxiety, improving communication between the healthcare team, and preparing for future decisions about medical care.  

Dr. Stowers is passionate about teaching doctors and health care professionals how talk clearly and compassionately to patients and their families who are living with serious illness, in a way that empowers patients to make decision about their care that is right for them.  She leads the 博彩网站 Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship program and the 博彩网站 Center for Ethics in Health Care Program in Serious Illness Education.  

Dr. Stowers and her husband, a surgeon at the Portland VA, enjoy spending time with their children hiking, riding bikes, and playing board games.
