Information on registering in Compass

You can register if you are employed by 博彩网站, Adventist Health Portland, Hillsboro Medical Center or a community practice in the 博彩网站 Health IDS network. Please ask your supervisor about the time commitment and get approval before registering.

Cohorts will fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Each person attending should register separately for the training.

Program structure

  • Four two-hour virtual sessions over multiple weeks, for a total of eight hours.
  • Register for one cohort.
  • No prerequisites.

Curriculum

  • Module 1: Trauma 101 and Trauma-informed Care
  • Module 2: The Science of Trauma: Neurobiology
  • Module 3: The Science of Trauma: Epigenetics, Adverse Childhood/Community Experiences and Resilience
  • Module 4: Workforce Wellness and Culture Change

Module 5: Intersections of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Trauma-informed Care

  • One two-hour virtual session.
  • Prerequisites: either modules 1-4 or a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training within the past year.
  • Register separately from the Foundations modules.

Module 6: Navigating Conflict

  • One two-hour virtual session.
  • Prerequisites: modules 1-4.
  • Register separately from the Foundations modules.

Trauma-informed care (TIC) is a body of research that informs best practices in working with people who have experienced trauma that may affect their daily lives and their ability to engage in health care.

It is also an organizational framework of culture change that realizes the impact of trauma and how it can affect staff, recognizes the signs of trauma, initiates a system that can respond to trauma, and resists re-traumatization.

The effort to develop the program and trainers within our health system is a collaboration among:

For individuals

There is no fee for the individual.

All participants should check with their supervisor about the time commitment and get approval before registering.

  • Foundations: 100% attendance is required in modules 1-4. 
  • Applications: 100% attendance is required in module 5 or 6. 

Accreditation

The School of Medicine, Oregon Health & Science University (博彩网站), is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit

Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

For supervisors

The training is free. Generally, it is up to your department’s discretion how this training will be accounted for with your direct report’s time.

The foundations course is eight hours across several weeks in 2024. 

Each applications module is two hours. 

Trainings will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis through July 2024. Please work directly with individuals in your unit or department if you have a preference for which cohort they attend.

We may be able to accommodate department-specific trainings in the future. If you would like your unit or department to be considered for this, please fill out this group interest form.
